So as an outdoor enthusiast and photographer I am always up for a
little adventure, especially when I can have my family along. There are
very few things in life that are as much fun for me as to see my
daughter playing and having a grand ole time in the outdoors. Be it
hiking, camping, or just a picnic. When Sierra was younger we spent a
lot more time in remote areas but since arriving in Florida, that has
slowed quite a bit. It is also pretty much unacceptable for me so, we
started doing something about it. Desiree and I have agreed to set at
least 1 day aside for us to get out and go for a hike or find a quiet
spot for a nice lunch somewhere. So far we have done short day hikes to
get Sierra back in the swing of things as well as for Desiree and I.
Quite honestly, over the last 3 years our stamina to go all day has gone
out the window and Sierra has adjusted to city life just a little to
well in my opinion.
As many of you know, hunting season
has started in many states already and I have a ton of friends who have
been doing some bragging on their great harvests. I won't name names,
but I know a young lady that got a buck and a bear last week and I am
jealous. With rifle season around the corner I may have to go do
something about it sooner than later. In fact I am not sure when the
last time was that I had the drive to go hunting like I do right now. I
want to go so bad that it has even topped my desire to photograph the
animals right now and that's saying something cause I ALWAYS have that
camera attached to me and wildlife is one of my favorite subjects... It
is like I always say, I hunt year round with one tool or the other.
Another
thing that has me chompin at the bit is Sierra. As I wrote here a few
weeks ago, she had the opportunity to shoot a bow through the FWC and I
hear nearly every day how she wants a bow. Which means daddy needs a new
one to haha. So I have been looking at the changes in bows since I
received mine as an 8th grade graduation present, and wow I feel ancient
in comparison. I even shot one of Hoyt's top bows yesterday and the
smoothness, speed, and weight are incredible. Not a chance in heck of me
buying one but I know what to look for when I am ready to fork out the
cash and I already know what I am getting Sierra for her first. A kids
recurve that keeps the arrow centered and in a safe position. It also
allows me to teach her safety before she is strong enough to pull it
back far enough to hurt anything or anyone.

The drive to
be outdoors is strong and I can't wait for the weekend to get here so
that we can find another amazing place to explore. We have a few hurdles
to clear with Sierra yet but I think we will be able to handle it. For
one, she has a hard time in tall grass and shorts, she needs a pair of
hiking boots and some type of light weight pants to keep the grass off
her legs. The grass makes her legs itch and yet we want her to stay cool
on hot days. Any ideas?
Another thing that has been driving me to be out and about through scorching sun and humidity is the gear reviews I have been doing. I feel that if I am going to give advice on a particular product I should be using it to it's utmost ability and testing these products in true outdoorsmans form. The adventure is just beginning, We have a lot more to see and a lot more to learn and pass on. I hope that you will stay tuned for what is to come and if you have a product you would like me or any of the Living Overland team to test email me and we will do our best to make it happen.

Well I suppose it is time I take my own advice, it is time to Get Outdoors!!!

I love this blog this week. The great outdoors holds some of my most favorite memories. I am so happy to see you carry on the traditions we were brought up with.
