I have been contemplating a change lately and with a little chat to a friend and some talks with my wife I have decided to take some college classes. Having spent the better part of my life in the construction industry, I have my doubts that the construction industry as I have known it will ever be the same. The new industries I have tried are great in some ways but would require me to be away from my family more than with them and that is something I am not willing to have happen.
Most of you know I love photography. It is what brings peace to my world, My Zen if you will. Photography is also a hard way to make a living in itself. Knowing how to take a good photo is not the same as being able to make a business out of it. One of my biggest weaknesses is the ability to market myself which of course creates a problem of making a career of it at this time. While I would love for photography to be my full time job but with a family at this stage it scares the heck out of me to put all my eggs in one basket as the saying goes. After a lot of thought, discussions with Desiree and some others I have decided to take a few classes starting with Drafting or Auto Cad as my starter, although in today's markets that little piece of paper has a lot of weight even if it is not for the field you are entering. My final outcome is not 100% but I am leaning toward a degree in civil or mechanical engineering and possibly some business as well.

Some of you know my first attempt at college was a flop. I was trying to keep up with a ridiculous schedule at school and carry a 35 hour a week job which left zero time for studies. I am hoping to not repeat that course but I know I have to have a job to provide for my family. That is my #1 priority.
Depending on the outcome I may take some photography, graphic arts, and creative writing classes as electives if they are still required for a full time student.
Anyways, all of the images I have posted were taken at the sanctuary the other day. We seen a lot of turtles, birds, and insects so there was no shortage of subjects to photograph. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. While Life has slowed down the last week or two, I have a feeling that it is the calm before the storm.
I would like to give a big shout to the Burkett Family as they find the strength to push through the hardships that face them. The support of their friends and family has been amazing and I know our prayers are with them.
