Well, It's another week. Funny how life throws little curves at ya isn't it? Well as luck would have it the shoot fell through as timing and transportation became an issue. Oh well there is always next time right?
Photographically it has been a slow week. I have been trying to get used to the changes in my diet, exercising, and re-editing some images from days gone past. SO what did I work on?
Next, Because I am still working with CS4 and prefer the crop tool of LR4 and newer Adobe editing products. I returned to LR to crop what I felt was the appropriate frame. (I usually do not like to crop but when doing panoramic stitching, I feel that it is vital to the shot for obvious reasons. Next I took the image into Nik Softwares Silver Efex Pro 2 for the Black and white conversion along with adjusting the sliders to fit my vision. The finishing touch is a double gradient, top to waterline and bottom to mid mountain with an exposure adjustment. All in all I am fairly happy with the final product and hope that you enjoy it as well. This is definitely one of those instances where Lightroom and Photoshop work together to get the job done and having plug ins such as the Nik Collection is great.

Grand Teton National Park
I am often asked how I took a shot or how I edited the shot so I thought I would write it all down.
Well First off I took 2 images of the Tetons and synced them in LR4 touching up the colors, contrast, exposure etc. the fastest way is usually to start with the Auto button and work your way down from there. I like using the tone curves so I will usually drop down to those as well. Then I used the photoshop merge tool to combine the two images which was not exactly acceptable so using the Clone Stamp tool I proceeded to clean up the image for camera dust and issues from the merge process. Below is the image after the merge.

So what is happening this week? Well I want to get out with Desiree for some shooting with my camera and our pistols. Girls with Guns right? I need to continue to get my exercise in every day and of course Sierra and I have 2 mommy free days to figure out some type of mischief this week. Maybe a trip to the wetlands or the beach is in order. I also need to finish the pictures for a new review I have coming to Living Overland soon and try to find a cool place in Florida to go camping.
If you have any questions on photography or editing feel free to ask and I will answer it to the best of my ability. I will sign off with a quote from George Burns ~ "I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate."
